An Angel Named Crystal

God has sent an angel.
She’s with me every day.
God has sent an angel.
All I have to do is pray.
I feel her tears.
And she feels mine.
Now forevermore our lives are intertwined.
Two souls that have blended from the very start.
Forevermore our spirits shall never part.

This poem was lovingly written for me by my fiance,
The Blind Poet, Freddy G.

Falling in Love

Your emails I read like no other;
Your words always real, not pretend.
I valued your mind and your passion,
But I wasn’t in love with you then.

I cherished your humor and laughter
And each little quip you would send.
You gave me a smile I could count on,
But I wasn’t in love with you then.

You said you were thinking about me;
I said there’s no stopping God’s plans,
That distance and time cannot phase Him,
But I wasn’t in love with you then.

I needed your deep understanding
To help with the loss of a friend.
You offered your heart and your spirit,
But I wasn’t in love with you then.

Respect in your voice found me seeking;
I felt closer to you as a man.
My woman’s heart leapt at your sweetness,
And I fell in love with you then.

Together we’re planning our future,
As soulmates and lovers and friends.
And when I look back on our story,
My heart falls in love once again.

Go the Distance

1. A little baby grows so tall,
But we can’t see it when he’s small.
Each tiny step is worth it all,
When we go the distance.
Refrain:

2. The Lord has bonded me and you
And given us a love so true.
It’s worth the trials we’ve come through,
When we go the distance.
Refrain:

3. And Jesus went to Calvary
To give His life so we might see.
It’s worth His blood to set us free,
So we can go the distance.
Refrain:

Just take His hand and understand,
He’ll help you go the distance.

Refrain:
And the journey we must make
Doesn’t seem so long.
And the many roads we take,
None of them are wrong.
‘Cause Jesus guides us every day;
He makes our crooked pathway straight.
So take His hand and understand,
You can go the distance.

Responsible

I am not responsible
for anyone but me.
God help me let the worry go
and set my thinking free.

I am not responsible
for someone else’s life.
So let me take my special way
and put their thoughts aside.

I am not responsible
for someone else’s pain.
So let me share the sweetness
of a healthy mind unchained.

I am not responsible
to anyone but Christ.
He lets me make my own mistakes
and loves me all the while.

Your Work in Me

You came to earth from perfect heav’n above.
I heard Your gentle Spirit like a dove.
You give me what I need because of love
And heal my battered heart from push and shove.

And now I wake up early in the morn
And fall asleep at night so safe and warm.
I feel Your peace, o even in the storm;
You diedso I can live forevermore.

For You are all I have and all I need,
And from despair and bondage set me free.
So guide my every thought and word and deed,
That others may see You at work in me.

When Someone Calls You Sunshine

When someone calls you sunshine,
You might be thinking twice,
That even though it can’t be you,
It’s sounding pretty nice.

When someone calls you sunshine,
You ask more carefully
And wonder if perhaps they know
The blessing you could be.

When someone calls you sunshine,
It lights your very soul,
Where you can see the truth so clear
That God has made you whole.

When someone calls you sunshine,
It nestles in your heart,
Where you can feel the sweet embrace
Of every hopeful part.

When someone calls you sunshine,
It changes how you feel.
You radiate a smile so bright,
An inner warmth that’s real.

When someone calls you sunshine,
Accept this precious gift,
The chance to better learn and live
The Holy Spirit’s bliss!

The Cornered Circle

A circle has no corners,
But just around the bend,
I put my arms around you
In a circle with no end.

A circle has no corners,
But when I turned to look,
You chased me with your sweetness,
And my heart you overtook.

A circle has no corners,
But just beyond the curve,
The street was paved with blessings
Of the joyous gift you were.

A circle has no corners,
And the Spirit knows no time.
For only in God’s corner
Is a love like yours and mine.

A circle has no corners,
But just around the bend,
I put my arms around you
In a circle with no end.

Lost

I’ve lost things in a moment,
And yet, I still must say
That, looking back upon it,
I haven’t lost a thing!

I’ve loved a person dearly,
But it was not to be.
And so I lost my someone,
But I am glad and free.

Oh, I regret but nothing,
Not one thing I have done,
For despite all life’s trials,
I haven’t lost, but won!

I’ve won because I’ve learned from
Ev’ry experience.
I’m not a football player,
But I play good defense!

I see the glass as half full;
I rarely empty it.
In my life there’s a motto:
Try! Ask! Then deal with it!

I’ve lost things in a moment,
And yet, I still must say
That, looking back upon it,
I haven’t lost a thing!

No, I regret but nothing,
Not one thing I have done,
For despite all life’s trials,
I haven’t lost, but won!

I wrote this poem in high school, and it still holds true today!

Fell for You

1. I fell into this rushing world,
Too sick, too early baby girl.
But as I grew up, I got better than well.
Because I never really fell
Until the day I fell for you.
Refrain:

2. I fell and broke my wrist one day,
Spent Christmas hurt and getting X-rays.
But when I got up, it was just as well.
Because I never really fell
Until the day I fell for you.
Refrain:

3. And I fell apart so many times.
Pain broke my heart and filled my mind.
But despite it all, I turned out pretty well.
Because I never really fell
Until the day I fell for you.
Refrain:

Baby, I never really fell
Until the day I fell for you.

Refrain:
How can you fall into heaven?
How can you slide into the sky?
Only the Lord knows the answer
To this truth I can’t deny.
I am drowning in love
That I never knew.
And even as I fall,
I know I’m floating too.
Because I never really fell
Until the day I fell for you.
