Hello and thank you for your interest in helping me provide live healing music to others!
I am Rev. Dr. Crystal L Grimes, MSc.D. I am a totally blind musician who holds a ministerial ordination and doctorate in metaphysical science from the university of metaphysics in Arizona, United States. It is my joy and service to provide healing music to patients and staff in hospitals and other healthcare facilities on a volunteer basis. This service is free of charge to all who receive it, and it will always be this way! However, I have expenses, including transportation, strings, supplies for disinfecting protocols, therapeutic music continuing education units, and the instrument I play in these facilities. As a therapeutic musician, I am not allowed to accept donations from patients, family members, or staff when providing services. This is why I am asking for your support.
Live healing music is never the same. It is tailored specifically for each patient for whom I play. The instrument is also a very special one, designed specifically for me. It is a double strung lyre with wire strings. It meets my requirement of being lightweight and compact. It will be easy for me to transport, rather than transporting a much larger double strung harp or 2 lyres I must hold at the same time in order to play.
Why double strung? Because it is more compact, and the therapeutic effects are multiplied with 2 sets of strings. Simply put, you get more lyre in a smaller, lighter package. But the musical affects are multiplied! There are echoing, shimmering, waterfall, and other effects that are not even possible to play with just one set of strings. Also, double strung harps usually have nylon strings, but my lyre will have wire strings. I asked for these specifically, because they ring out much longer than nylon strings do, especially on such a small instrument. All these qualities make the music even more beneficial to patients and staff.
Personally, I am on a fixed income. Any donations you provide will go directly toward expenses for providing live healing music to those who need it most.
If any donations are left over beyond expenses, I will make a double strung lyre album for those who cannot experience the music live. I will have more updates in the future about that here on this page.
