16-string solid body lyre
And a fun double strung arrangement on 2 19-string acoustic lyres.
#LyrePoem Rondelet #3 Blessed Mother Earth
Blessed Mother Earth,
I hear you crying out in pain.
Blessed Mother Earth,
You are my home, and since my birth
Your steadfast love is not in vain.
You keep me; may I do the same,
Blessed Mother Earth!
Stephen Foster Meets Lyres + Bow
Enjoy Oh! Susanna played on 7-string pentatonic BJL lyre with Pickaso Guitar Bow.
Tuning: D4, E4, F#4, G4, A4, B4, D5
Camptown Races played on the same lyre, but without bow.
Since the bow is pretty unusual, I thought I would add double strung arrangements as well. So, here they are on 2 19-string acoustic lyres.
And because, well, why not? 19-string acoustic lyre.
#LyrePoem Limerick #4 Moderation
It’s a good thing I don’t have a desk!
If I did, it would be a big mess!
Should be glad for the stuff,
‘Cause there’s more than enough
Overflowing to leave a bequest!
Lyre: 16-string solid body
Tuning: A melodic minor (when tuned in A minor, tune all F strings to F# and all G strings to G#)
Whispers of Beauty
This is another lovely piece by Catherine Guilbeau. I am playing a 19-string acoustic lyre, but this can be played on a 16-string as well. To learn this piece or purchase the sheet music, check out Catherine’s YouTube video below.
Lynda Lyre with nylon strings. Notice that there is less resonance and sustain on this instrument with these strings.
And a bonus arrangement… Double strung played on 2 19-string acoustic lyres with wire strings.

#LyrePoem Nonet #3 Music
Music is a gift to everyone
At any time, for any need.
Using it for good or ill,
People know its power.
May we choose wisely
When we listen,
When we play…
Precious
Gift!
Lyre: 16-string solid body
Tuning: C major/A minor pentatonic (tune all B strings up to C, and all F strings down to E)
Celtic Tides on BJL Lyres
Celtic Tides is an original piece that was part of my Therapy Harp Training Program exam. I hope you enjoy it, played first on 19-string acoustic lyre.
16-string solid body with modified left hand.
And last, but not least, my double strung arrangement played on 2 19-string acoustic lyres.
#LyrePoem Tanka #4 Waterfalls
Waterfalls tumble
Eroding stones on their way
Making room for good
Let the water wash away
Stress and pain… And leave you peace!
The Ash Grove on BJL Lyres
Enjoy this beautiful traditional Welsh tune played first on 16-string solid body lyre.
19-string acoustic lyre with low F3.
And my double strung arrangement played on 2 19-string acoustic lyres.
#LyrePoem Cinquain #3 Sunbeam
Just one
Radiant beam
Shimmering in the dark
Can light up a room… Or a life
With hope!
